Walking

Self guided - many local walks and hikes: Tarawera falls (boat drop off only), Blue lake, amble along the Tarawera lakefront, Lake Okereka walkway - a bird lovers haven.

Sightseeing

Use the two house kayaks to explore the fringes of Lake Tarawera. Experience the lake & hotwater beach aboard the Wakarua boat. Buried village-see our local history after the eruption of Tarawera in 1886 (www.buriedvillage.co.nz) Get picked up from the front lawn in a helicopter and fly over Tarawera to White Island- land on an active volcano! Fishing

Go for a scenic trout fish aboard the Wakarua boat -jigging and trolling, (www.exploretarawera.co.nz) or try a spot fly fishing. There are also fly fishing spots around the lake.

Relaxation

Maori culture

Mountain biking
